|Volunteer Fall Litter Cleanup September 29|
Leave the leaves; bag the litter.
In September, leaves start falling off the trees. Less pleasant litter has been falling from cars, dumpsters and loading docks all summer. Leaves are good for the environment; litter is not.
The South Plainfield Clean Communities Advisory Board will sponsor a targeted public lands cleanup on Saturday, September 29. South Clinton Avenue and the surrounding area is a mix of industrial, commercial and open space, with the undeveloped land often accumulating litter that is coming from the commercial establishments.
If enough people come, we will cover New Market Avenue and side streets as well.
The cleanup will run from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. Gloves, trash bags, safety vests and other equipment will be provided. Volunteers can collect supplies at the Highland Woods Nature Reserve on Sylvania Place from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
