National Take Back Initiative

National Take Back Initiative The South Plainfield Police Department and the DEA are coordinating the National Take Back Initiative, whereby unused, unwanted and expired medications can be surrendered by the public for safe destruction. The event is scheduled for Saturday October 24, 2020 between the hours of 10am and 2 pm. The collection point will be a drive up location at the rear of the Borough municipal building. This program is anonymous and we ask the following to assist in a successful and safe drug destruction. Drugs may be dropped directly into the disposal box, but if you do leave them in their original container, we ask that you remove any personal identifying information on the container. Liquid products should remain sealed in their original container. Vape pen and e-cigarette cartridges will be accepted. The vape pen or e-cigarette device will be accepted ONLY after the battery has been removed by the individual consumer. If the battery cannot be removed the individual consumer can check with large electronic chain stores who may accept the vape pen or e-cigarette devices for proper disposal. Syringes and other sharp instruments will not be accepted.
