|Join Volunteer Litter Cleanup Week Saturday May 4-11 and Take the #Trashtag Challenge|
Mayor Anesh has issued a proclamation inviting all members of the South Plainfield community to participate in Volunteer Litter Cleanup Week 2019.
The big cleanup event will be held on May 4. Bring your phone to take before and after shots of your cleanup spot. Come to the municipal building to collect supplies at 9 a.m., go out and make a difference, and come back at noon for the free Pizza Pickup Picnic.
If you post your before and after shots to Instagram, Facebook or Twitter using these two hashtags: #Trashtag and #LitterFreeSP, youíll be entered in a drawing to win a prize. There also will be a prize for the most unusual piece of litter. Prizes are being sponsored by KCís Corner and WE are South Plainfield. #Trashtag is a viral online challenge that has swept the world. There are over 30,000 #Trashtag posts of dirty spots cleaned up.
Groups that cannot make it on May 4 can register to do a cleanup on another day during the week and they are still invited to the Picnic on Saturday. Those who have participated before in the Spring Cleanup know how much it helps the borough and the people who live and work here. Last year, 231 people joined Cleanup Week, collecting 134 bags of trash from over 39 spots, including roadsides, parks and woods. Also, everyone has a good time.
