South Plainfield Economic Development

Welcome to the Borough of South Plainfield. 

The Borough was incorporated as its own community on March 12, 1926.  The 8.4 square mile borough is comprised of residential, industrial and commerical areas and is the home to approximately 25,000 residents. 
The Borough is conveniently located between New York City and Philadelphia and provides easy access to major thoroughfares such as Route 287, 22 and the Garden State Parkway.  South Plainfield is served by the NJ Transit Bus lines.
 
The South Plainfield Economic Development Committee's mission is to promote the Borough as a preeminent location for prospective businesses, act as a liaison between commercial property owners and prospective business owners, to facilitate the dialogue and transition into the South Plainfield. There is a priority placed maintaining relationships with property owners to assist in filling and minimizing long-term vacancies by soliciting prospective businesses when and where appropriate. In addition, there is an emphasis on business retention through support and relocation assistance. We are proud to have a business community which provided needed goods and services and works closely with community organizations to support their initiatives.
