Municipal Clerk                                                                                          

Office hours: Monday-Friday 8am to 4pm.

The Municipal Clerk's Office, dating back to ancient origins, is a time honored and vital part of local goverment that exists throughout the world and is considered the "hub" of municipal government operations; serving as liaison between governing officials and taxpayers and between the Executive and Legislative bodies. The Municipal Clerk serves as secretary to the municipal corporation, secretary to the governing body, chief administration official of all elections, chief registrar of voters, administrative officer for various licenses and permits, and records manager for local archives and records retention programs. The Clerk also receives all applications for Alcoholic Beverage licenses, bingo and raffle licenses and garage sales as well as is in charge of a wide variety of other functions and duties.

ELECTION INFORMATION

     Primary Election:  Tuesday, June 4, 2024

     General Election/School Board Election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024

     Polls are open from 6:00am til 8:00pm

 Anyone wishing to register to vote MUST:

  • Be a citizen of the United States
  • Be 18 years of age on or before the election day
  • Have resided in the county at least 30 days
  • Register at least 21 days prior to the election

 You must re-register if:

  • You move from one county to another
  • You have a name change due to marriage, divorce or Judgement of the Court
  • Any change of address
  • Voter Registration Application Forms, Absentee Ballot Applications are available in the Municipal Clerk's Office at 2480 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 or you may access forms online at www.NJElections.org    or

 Voter Registration Application forms must be completed and mailed to:

26 Kennedy Boulevard
East Brunswick, NJ 08816

or received by the Municipal Clerk twenty-one (21) days before an election to be eligible to vote. The same form is used by voters who have changed their name, address or party affiliation.
