Lehigh Valley Railroad Program Nov. 28 at The History Center Register Now, Space is Limited!
The So. Plainfield Historical Society invites you to join local railroad historian Ralph Heiss (author of "The Lehigh Valley Railroad Across New Jersey" from Arcadia Publishing) on Tuesday, November 28th at 7 pm, as he shows rare maps and photos from his extensive collection of Lehigh Valley RR memorabilia. The presentation will feature long gone scenes from the railroad across South Plainfield and the surrounding towns, and he will talk about how "South Painfield's own railroad" left its mark upon our town to this very day.
The SP Historical Society will also put on display rare LVRR photos from the 1890s showing the construction of the sprawling coal storage facility as well as images of railroad employees at work at the world's largest coal dump off Metuchen Road.
If you enjoy local railroad or town history, there will be plenty to see!
Registration is required as space is limited. Email firstname.lastname@example.org. The History Center is located at 115 Sylvania Place off So. Clinton Avenue, South Plainfield 07080. ADA accessible.
